Kite flying is fun! Each kite design has its own unique personality. Our company is designed to bring kids and families of all walks of life together and enjoy the kite flying experience.
I remember my uncle and my dad you used to always draw airplanes and spaceships. They always had an interest in pretty much anything that flies. We lived near the shore so there was often a nice breeze , it was often a good day to fly a kite. I can remember my dad and I constructing a kite from scratch to enter the annual kite flying competition for cub scouts.
Now I can fast forward this story to many years later.
My son is in school learning about shapes. And different applications for them. Like a square will be window...a circle would be a tire. . . .and a diamond would be...well a kite! My son was having this lesson in school he became particularly interested in the diamond flying. And he asked me if we could make a kite. It really felt like deja vu. I said to my self “Wow! I haven't done that in years, ok.”
So out of fun we made a 12 inch diamond design and a 12 inch delta design out of nylon fabric, glue, and popsickle sticks! The diamond was bright red ...and the delta was bright orange.. . .. two very small but colorful kites. We attached two long tails to each of them out of gift wrap ribbon. The kites were so small and light we flew them with thread. Although tiny, they flew well!
Kids were smiling and parents were asking me
“Where did you get that cute little kite from?” When I told them I made it they seemed surprised. Total strangers would ask me to the mini kites for them. And offered to buy them from me.
After all..Kite flying is fun!
Even in this day and age it is a craft that can still bring a smile to a child's face. And even on some adults! To me this is the whole object.
I started modifying my designs. I was making little Jets, butterflies, and all kinds of shapes. Once I confirmed that they flew well, I would sell them on the beach. It made me happy to see them excited about flying them. And knowing I had something to do with this gives me all the motivation I need to help expand this experience as far as I can.
I believe its the combination of the bright vivid colors and cool looking shapes flying in the sky. When people see this on a bright and breezy day, it makes kids smile and adults look twice. My job is done. After all. . . .Kite flying is fun!
